College Football Power Rankings Week 2
17. North Carolina - - The Tar Heels put 40 points against The Citadel and held that team to only 6. It was a good victory for NC.
18. BYU - - Yes, the Cougars beat Oklahoma, but they barely beat them and they knocked out Sam Bradford early on in the game. They’re going to have to show more to move up in the rankings.
19. Florida State - - If they do what they should, that is beat Miami, then they could move up. If they lose, and there is a possibility that they will lose, then the Seminoles could drop out of the rankings altogether next week.
20. Nebraska - - The Cornhuskers put up 49 points against Florida International. That was a good sign because with Bo Pellini as the coach, we know that their defense will be tough.
21. Kansas - - The Jayhawks are yet another Big 12 team that everyone should pay attention to. 49 to 3 is what the score ended up in their game against Northern Colorado this past Saturday.
22. TCU - - The Horned Frogs haven’t played a game yet in 2009. Until they do, I can’t very well put them in the Top 20, now can I?
23. Michigan - - I was very, very impressed with how the Wolverines dominated Western Michigan in their first game of the season. They went out and just dominated the Broncos. It looks to me like Coach Rich Rodriguez has put this team on the right track.
24. Tennessee - - Talk about impressive! The Volunteers look like night and day from a year ago. 63 points in Lane Kiffin’s first game as head coach? Wow! If they do that against UCLA, then Florida had better watch out.
25. Oklahoma - - I’ll keep them in the Top 25 because they did lose to a ranked opponent, but the thing that bothers me is the lack of adjustments made by the Sooners’ coaching staff in this game. Your quarterback leaves the game and all you do is stick to the game plan? Come on!
