Adidas said prior to the U.S. Open that Melanie Oudin’s shoes would not be available to the public before the tournament. Of course, that’s not unexpected. But how about after the tournament? While Adidas hasn’t stated, you can clearly bet this shoe - the most talked about footwear this week in sports - will get a retail launch eventually.
But what exactly does the shoe say? The side of the shoe says “BELIEVE”. And while Oudin is 17, it’s reportedly her 15 year old boyfriend who came up with the selection of “BELIEVE” added at the rear of the tennis shoe. “BELIEVE” replaces Oudin’s name plate that was set to lay at the same position.
The entire pink and yellow tennis shoe is a custom creation between Oudin and Adidas.
