Sports in Brief: Pacquiao to fight Cotto in the fall

Pro football Wide receiver Jesse Holley was named the winner of 4th and Long, the reality show on Spike TV. His prize is the 80th spot on the Dallas Cowboys’ training-camp roster and a standard rookie contract.

The 6-foot-3, 216-pound Holley played basketball and football at North Carolina; he was a backup point guard on the Tar Heels’ 2005 national title team. He was on the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad in 2007.

Feng Li, Tennessee’s assistant medical examiner, said former NFL quarterback Steve McNair had a high blood-alcohol level when his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, shot him to death in Nashville on July 4. Kazemi killed herself.

The Oakland Raiders have agreed to a four-year contract with sixth-round pick Brandon Myers, a tight end out of Iowa.

Golf Aurora Kan, a 15-year-old from Boothwyn, shot a 10-over 82 in the first round of stroke play in the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship on Trump National Golf Club’s Old Course in Bedminster, N.J.

New Hope’s Erica Herr, 13, finished at 91. Erynne Lee of Silverdale, Wash., led the tournament at 67.

Hockey The Montreal Canadiens signed goalie Curtis Sanford to a one-year deal. Sanford was 7-8 with a 2.59 goals-against average last season with the Vancouver Canucks.

The Boston Bruins signed defenseman Matt Hunwick to a multiyear contract extension.

Auto racing Joie Chitwood, president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, said he would step down after Sunday’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. He will become an executive with the International Speedway Corporation in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Colleges Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz signed a seven-year contract through 2015. His record in 10 seasons with the Hawkeyes is 70-53.

Noteworthy Defender Michael Parkhurst will rejoin the U.S. men’s soccer roster for Thursday’s semifinal against Honduras in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Chicago. He missed Saturday’s win over Panama at Lincoln Financial Field because he was playing in Denmark.

Lauren Lappin hit a home run as the United States beat Australia, 3-1, to win the World Cup of Softball championship in Oklahoma City.
