The Yazoo City MS Tornado news comes as the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency advises state residents of new alerts Saturday. “The National Weather Service has advised MEMA that much of the state is at risk of seeing a tornado over the next 24 hours as strong spring storms develop. “
The Governor writes on the MEMA website “For the last few years, Mississippians had experienced quiet hurricane seasons. But Katrina taught us that it only takes one major storm to cause devastation like this.”
ABC 33/40 reports from a Yazoo City Police Department source that “several people are trapped in their homes. Crews are en route to rescue them. There are no reports of fatalities at this time. Responders are working to open a temporary shelter for people displaced by the storms.”
